The St. Nikolaus children's hospice is located in Bad Grönenbach , in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . It looks after families with children who suffer from an incurable life-shortening disease. It was opened in March 2007 and is a member of the German Children's Hospice Association . It is the first children's hospice in southern Germany and is supported by the patron Karin Stoiber .

In 2007, the association Kinderhospiz im Allgäu e. V. founded the South German Children's Hospice Academy. The main task of the academy is the further education and training in the field of child hospice work.
