The Kuddelmuddel Children's Cultural Center is a children's theater and kindergarten in the city of Linz .

history

In 1930, a Kolping House was built in Langgasse 13 and Gesellenhausstrasse 1 with the master builder Friedrich Gangl according to the plans of the architect Hans Steineder . The building is considered to be an important Austrian construction of the interwar period and the architect's main work in Linz.

The building has five to seven floors in the New Objectivity style with several staggered cubes. The ground floor and the corner solution at the intersection are particularly striking for Steineder's formal language.

The Kolping House was confiscated when Austria was annexed in 1938 and used by the Gestapo as its headquarters in Linz.

The left part of the building with the former cinema has been used as a children's theater and kindergarten since 1990. The right part of the building remained in the Kolpinghaus Gesellenhausstrasse 1 to 7 and is used as a hotel.
