Child Traumatology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The pediatric traumatology deals with injuries in childhood and their consequences. A special feature of childhood injuries is that they occur on a growing organism. There are therefore different compensation and repair mechanisms than in adults.

Due to the presence of growth zones in the bone, there are also other types of injuries than in adults, see. Epiphysiolysis .

Pediatric traumatology is carried out in Germany by two specialist areas: pediatric surgery and trauma surgery . There is no separate training regulation. The basics of the field are conveyed in the advanced training for pediatric surgery and trauma surgery. Further specialization takes place through work at a corresponding center.
