Kindle Direct Publishing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is a self-publishing platform ISP Amazon.com for self-publication of e-books and paperbacks.

history

KDP was initially associated with CreateSpace.com , whose services as well as former users as an "independent publishing platform" with free creation of books as a print medium as well as data carriers for music and film recordings have now been transferred to KDP.

description

Authors can upload their marketable books to KDP free of charge and offer them for purchase on the Internet as a download or as a printed paperback. It is possible to choose between 30 and 70 percent for the royalty amount , which, however, affects the pricing. In principle, you can also determine the price for the purchase yourself. Additional services are chargeable.

A cover of your own design can also be uploaded for the book , otherwise the missing cover will be replaced by a standardized KDP cover. Changes to the book are possible at any time, as can the pricing. The author has the opportunity to observe the exact sales figures in a separate author area (“bookshelf”).

KDP also ensures that the e-books available on it can only be bought or borrowed for a fee, but not exchanged or passed on free of charge. An ISBN is assigned to the paperbacks .

Amazon withholds between 30% and 65% of earnings.
