Kinetic Rain

Kinetic Rain is a two-part kinetic art installation that has been on display in Terminal 1 of Singapore Airport since July 2012 .

The work consists of 1216 copper-colored drops that are attached to thin steel cables and float up and down over the two escalators in the departure hall. Computer-controlled motors move the drops in a 15-minute choreography, in which the drops depict different shapes. The installation extends over an area of ​​75 square meters, the individual drops cover 7.3 meters from the lowest to the highest point.

Kinetic Rain was developed over a period of two years by artists, designers, programmers and technicians from the Berlin design office ART + COM .

Material selection, type of manufacture and production was taken over by MBFZ toolcraft GmbH.
