Kingittorsuaq ( old spelling Kingigtorssuaĸ , German a large protruding rock) is a small, uninhabited island in the Upernavik district in the Avannaata Kommunia , Greenland . It is a small island in the south of Upernavik Archipelago in the southwest of Upernavik Icefjord , near the confluence with the Baffin Bay the fjord .
history
Discovered by a hunter in 1824, the rune stone, dated between 1250 and 1333, is now in the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen .
