Aborted edge on the Kinnarodden

Kinnarodden is a crag on the North Chin Peninsula . It is located in the Norwegian province of Troms og Finnmark and represents the northernmost point of mainland Europe.

reachability

To reach Kinnarodden, you have to undertake an approx. 24 km long hike, which takes two full days to get there and back. The path starts at Mehamn Airport and is marked with cairns. Some of these are not directly on the hiking trail, but can be seen from there even in light fog. The route mostly leads over wide, impassable scree fields and is therefore an enormous physical and mental challenge. Up until autumn 2001 there were two old wrecks of Junkers Ju 88 aircraft on the way to Kinnarodden , which were involved in the battle of the battleship Scharnhorst during World War II .
