history

Chancel, pulpit, gallery and box

Margrave Dietrich the distressed donated Brockwitz and its neighboring towns to the Augustinian Canons - St. Afra Monastery in Meißen . Since the monastery there also received the right of patronage , this is also the first mention of the Brockwitz Church.

A devastating fire destroyed large parts of Brockwitz in 1571. The church was destroyed except for the tower. The baroque building that defines today's townscape was built in 1737.

In the Brockwitz village church, baroque and renaissance elements are fused together. It has baroque paintings on the pulpit, gallery and box. The altar was erected in 1822, and the sacred building was probably equipped with an organ since the 17th century. The pulpit dates back to 1620, its richly decorated sound cover dates from 1738. In 2000, the outer facade was completely renovated.

The rectory adjacent to the church contains a collection on smallholder life. Craft and agricultural tools are exhibited. Parts of the exhibition are also dedicated to the Elbe, viticulture and archaeological finds from the Meißen area.
