Forsby Church

The church of Forsby is located a few kilometers east of Skovde ( Sweden ).

The church is one of the few medieval churches in Sweden that can be accurately dated. An inscription shows the year of inauguration: August 1135.

The church is probably on an older burial mound. It is built according to the Romanesque model and consists of a nave , choir and apse . The nave was already rebuilt during the Middle Ages. The ceiling paintings, some of which still exist today, were made in 1745 by the church painter Johan Risberg.

The church has a wooden bell tower and a stone magazine.
