Church Council (United Methodist Church)
The church executive is a body in the Central Conference Germany of the Evangelical Methodist Church , which leads the current church business in the area of the Central Conference Germany.
The church council, headed by the bishop, includes ex officio superintendents and lay leaders of the annual conferences . The central conference appoints a pastoral member (parish pastor) of the central conference for each annual conference; Additional lay members of the Central Conference are elected in such a number that the church council includes an equal number of clergy and laypeople .
The term of office of the church council is four years, from one Ordinary Central Conference to the next.
If the church council makes decisions that are actually due to the central conference to which it is accountable, they only apply until the next central conference.
In the Central Conference of Central and Southern Europe, the same body is called the Executive Committee , as this name is similar in most of the many languages of the Central Conference.
The parish administrators in the Roman Catholic churches are also often referred to as the church council .
