Eastern Church Conference

The conference of the East German Protestant regional churches in the Soviet occupation zone , which existed from 1945 to 1949, was referred to as the Eastern Church Conference (also " Eastern Conference " or " Eastern Church Conference ") . It was based in East Berlin .

The name "Conference of Eastern State and Provincial Churches" was also used by the press. The unofficial chairman of this body was the later council chairman of the Evangelical Church in Germany and Bishop of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg , Otto Dibelius . After the founding of the German Democratic Republic , it was continued as the Conference of the Evangelical Church Leaders in the GDR , but continued to be referred to as the Eastern Conference in the media of the then Federal Republic of Germany .
