Church site Andepen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Andepen church was located in the early medieval predecessor of the village of Leiberg ( Andepen ), in what is now the southern part of the village, 25 meters above the bottom of the river Afte . Today's Leiberg Church is about 1 kilometer southeast of the earlier structure. Even today, an “Iron Book” reminds of the story of the destruction of Andepen.

history

The Christianization of the Franks resulted in the first church in Andepen. The house of God was specifically built at this point because the pagan Saxons worshiped an idol temple there. In 1390 the church in Andepen was destroyed by knights of the Bengel feud. In the meantime the church has been restored.
