Kirjurinluoto is a 25 hectare archipelago and park in Pori , Finland . It is located in the Kokemuchtenjoki River . Kirjurinluoto is a popular outdoor sports and recreation spot. Kirjurinluoto is known as the concert venue of the Pori Jazz Festival.

history

Kirjurinluoto is one of the many archipelago in the immediate vicinity of the center of Pori. The archipelago was created by natural uplift and silting by the river. Kirjurinluoto was originally a single archipelago, but today it is linked to the two larger archipelagos, Raatimiehenluoto and Hanhiluoto . Kirjurinluoto Park was completed in 1897.

In the past, it was only possible to get to Kirjurinluoto by boat, raft or ferry . Nowadays, Kirjurinluoto can be reached through several bridges. Today it is also possible to get there by land thanks to the Valtatie 8 motorway .

Activities and events

The Kirjurinluoto Arena (also Pori Delta Arena ) is a concert park on Kirjurinluoto and has also been the main arena of the Pori Jazz Festival since 2002. The former main arena Lokkilava is now the site of the Pori Jazz Kids Festival and the Porispere Rock Festival. In Kirjurinluoto there is also a summer theater, the children's play park Pelle Hermanni and the new Angry Birds children's playground. There are also many outdoor sports such as Frisbee golf , miniature golf , a beach and nature trails. The park is also suitable for a picnic .
