Kiwi bell
The Kiwiglocke is a single bell for vacuum extraction . In contrast to conventional suction bells, it does not require an electric motor, but has a handle to manually generate a negative pressure.
There are two differently shaped types of bells that are used depending on the position of the child's head. It was administered by obstetrician Dr. Aldo Vacca, Director of Obstetric Service in Cabooture, Queensland .
Ease of use and placement are stated as advantages of the bell, and the bell can also be operated without electricity, as it does not require an additional vacuum pump. The pressure build-up is slower, so it is gentler on the child. It is also suitable for heads that are difficult to develop during a caesarean section . The disadvantage is that the Kiwi bell is a relatively expensive single-use device.
