Classification or classification is a word that is mainly used in the German-speaking part of Belgium , Luxembourg and Switzerland .

In German, to classify according to Duden means :

  • according to certain characteristics of a class (e.g. classify),
  • break down granular goods according to grain size ,
  • place themselves (in Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland also in terms of placement , ranking ).

Example: Luxembourg ranks just ahead of Saudi Arabia in gender equality in politics or: Luxembourg ranks 9th among the most competitive economies among the EU countries .
