Klaus Groth Society

The Klaus-Groth-Gesellschaft e.V. has set itself the goal of maintaining the legacy of the classic era of New Low German literature . The company was founded on June 1, 1949 and is based in the Klaus Groth Museum on Lüttenheid in Heide (Holstein), which has existed since 1914 . The main task of the company is the maintenance and presentation of the work of Klaus Groth(1819–1899), who, as one of the most important Low German poets and writers, co-founded the new Low German literature. With its activities and publications, especially through the publication of the yearbooks, the Klaus Groth Society works far beyond its traditional area for Low German . The company was chaired by the former President of the State Parliament, Heinz-Werner Arens , from 2007 to 2011 , followed by Bernd Rachuth in the chairmanship from 2011 to 2018 . Robert Langhanke has been chairman of the Klaus Groth Society since 2018.
