Adhesive specialist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Specialist and English European Adhesive Specialist (EAS) is a qualified staff of adhesive users from industry and crafts, glue manufacturers and sales personnel, which through a special training measure extensive knowledge in the field of bonding technology have purchased.

The adhesive specialist represents the middle level of the currently three-level advanced training system in adhesive technology (see also adhesive practitioner , adhesive engineer ). Courses for qualification and examination for adhesive specialists were offered and carried out for the first time in 1994.

Field of activity

The aim of the training is to qualify the adhesive specialist for the following tasks:

  • professional execution of gluing
  • Instruction of executive personnel
  • Creation of work instructions for adhesive processes
  • Monitoring of adhesive processes
  • Identification and correction of process defects in the processing of adhesives

With the DVS guideline 3310 published in 2003 , which regulates the operational requirements for the implementation of technical adhesive processes, the adhesive specialist has the additional task of checking the design of bonded connections in special cases.

Further training to become an adhesive specialist

The harmonized guidelines DVS-EWF 3301 (for Germany) and EWF 516-01 (for Europe) define the framework for further training and examination to become an adhesive specialist . Analogous to the advanced training in welding technology , the measure can only be offered and carried out by specially approved educational institutions.

The training duration is 120 teaching units of 50 minutes each (e.g. 3-week full-time course), which can be divided as required if necessary.

The course is divided into three modules of 40 teaching units each , with basic knowledge (advantages and limits of adhesive technology, adhesion , cohesion , systematics of adhesives , processing, properties of different adhesive types) in the first module and advanced knowledge (including testing technology, adhesive bonding) in the two subsequent modules various materials, selection of adhesives, quality assurance, adhesive-compatible construction, hybrid joining ). Theoretical lessons are accompanied and supplemented by practical exercises.

The exam consists of a combination of written, practical and oral individual exams. After successful completion, the graduate is awarded the DVS certificate "Adhesive Specialist" and the EWF certificate "European Adhesive Specialist (EAS)".
