The small church in Burgsteinfurt

The small church in Burgsteinfurt is the second church of the Evangelical Parish of Burgsteinfurt.

In the 14th century, seven respected Steinfurt citizens founded the Holy Spirit Foundation for the Poor. Shortly afterwards, this foundation built a poor house and a chapel next to a Burgmannshof, the Wulfshof. The chapel was subordinated to the Order of St. John residing in the Kommende Steinfurt . In 1430 the foundation had the building demolished and rebuilt it at the adjacent Wulfshof. The document states that the said chapel should be rebuilt in a more suitable and venerable place. The wooden chapel soon became too small. 1471–1477 a new building was erected, with the foundations of the new church being laid around the old one. In the late Gothic , single-nave hall, two buttresses are brought together in an ogival shape at the gable. They carry a small octagonal tower that is covered with sandstone slabs.

The building burned down after a bombing raid in World War II and was later restored. At that time they built a new ribbed vaults of Calc with tuff one ribs, which is supported on the outer walls by buttresses. Connected to the first buttress on the north side is a small tower that contains the stairs to the belfry.

The organ was built in 1999 by the organ builder JC van Rossum. The Schleiferladen instrument has 11 registers on a manual (Principal 8 ', Hollow Flute 8', Octave 4 ', Gemshorn 4', Quint Flute 3 ', Octave 2', Sesquialter II - Treble, Mixture IV-V, Trumpet 8 ') and Pedal (Bourdon 16 ', bass trumpet 8'). The actions are mechanical.
