The small market is one of the places in the Klever downtown, north of the Collegiate Church located. It has a triangular floor plan, where at the northern end the Kirchstrasse, to the west the Propsteistrasse and to the east the Nassauerstrasse and the Goldstrasse converge. The square slopes down towards Kirchstrasse and to the south it borders the forecourt, which is higher up towards the collegiate church.

On this higher forecourt in front of the collegiate church is the sculpture of the "Dead Warrior" by Ewald Mataré .

The Lohengrin monument was erected on the Kleiner Markt in 1881 and moved to Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz in 1908/9 because it had to make room for the Hohenzollern monument with an equestrian statue of the Great Elector .

In 1909 Kaiser Wilhelm II unveiled this monument. It is now on Schlossstrasse, in the entrance area to Schwanenburg on Dr.-Heinz-Will-Platz.

On the east side of the market there was a brick-gabled house with typical stepped gables, which was built in brick until it was destroyed in the war.

On the historical meeting place of the Klever Gecken Society, the fountain with its seven bronze, water-spouting heads reminds of the former "head" of the society, consisting of a king and six councilors created by Anette Mürdter.

In 1981 the sculpture of the "Dead Warrior" by Ewald Mataré was set up on the neighboring forecourt in front of the provost church. It was created in 1934 for a memorial, for which the fallen Klever of the First World War was dedicated. After Mataré was officially declared a degenerate artist in 1937, the figure was smashed in 1938 in a night and fog action. Parts of the figure damaged during dismantling were found in 1977. It was restored by Elmar Hillebrand , a student of Mataré.
