Kleon (Sicily)
Kleon ( Greek Κλέων ), a robber from the Taurus in Cilicia , lived in the 2nd century BC.
Together with his brother Komanos he was deported to Sicily . In Agrigento he gathered a group of runaway shepherd slaves around him. The small group grew rapidly, and Kleon became the most important leader of the first Sicilian slave revolt after Eunus . Approx. 136 BC He united his troops with those of Eunus and received the title of Strategos from him . Together they conquered Morgantina , Tauromenion and other cities. Kleon fell at the siege of Henna . It was only four years later that the Romans succeeded in suppressing the uprising.
