Back of the blade

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The back of the blade is the opposite side of the cutting edge in a single-sided sharpened weapon. In weapon descriptions, it is referred to as the rear of the weapon.

to form

There are different shapes of the back of the blade. They are named as follows:

Covered back
  1. Flat or rough back. The back of the blade is shaped like an isosceles triangle. The base must be as long as the blade is thick.
  2. Half back. Blade back with broken edge on both blade sides.
  3. Round back. The back of the blade appears like a semicircle in the cross section of the blade.
  4. Stretched back or plug-in back. The back of the blade is forged round, triangular or square in cross-section.
  5. Pointed, covered or high back. The back of the blade is forged roof-shaped in cross section.
  6. Hollow back or hollow back. The back of the blade is concave along its length.
  7. Double back or double back. The back of the blade is forged in a T-shape in cross section. These blade backs can also be covered (see No. 5).
