The mother house of the Borromeo Clinic is the largest hospital in Trier with 1000 beds . It is located in the Mitte / Gartenfeld district.

history

The hospital was founded in 1849 by the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Karl Borromeo founded. It developed into a hospital specialized care, and today maintains 16 departments, including for child and adolescent psychiatry and surgery, radiology, nuclear medicine, gynecology, orthopedics, pain and palliative medicine, psychiatry or pediatric neurology. 2500 people are employed in the facility.

The Herz-Jesu-Krankenhaus Trier was integrated into the mother house by 2006 .

On January 1, 2016, the former Ecumenical Association Hospital Trier with the locations Marienkrankenhaus Trier Ehrang and Elisabeth Hospital Trier was taken over from the mother house.

Since 2011 the Klinikum Mutterhaus has been one of four centers for positron emission tomography (PET) nationwide . This technique allows doctors to diagnose tumors in patients at an early stage and to monitor the course of therapy.
