Kaunas Clinical Hospital
The Kaunas Clinic Hospital ( lit. VšĮ Kauno klinikinė ligoninė ) is a hospital in Kaunas , the second largest city in Lithuania . According to its legal form , it is an institution under public law ( Viešoji įstaiga ).
The central administration is located about 1.5 kilometers east of the historic city center with the old town opposite a cathedral. The hospital was established in 2011 after the merger of the VŠĮ Raudonojo Kryžiaus ligoninė and VŠĮ Kauno 2-a klinikinė ligoninė institutions. 42,000 patients are treated as inpatients (annually), 12,500 operations are carried out, 145,000 patients are advised in the polyclinic . There are four clinics of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) in the hospital . It employs 2,108 people (2013).
It is the sixth largest hospital in Lithuania in terms of the number of employees.
