Klong Seng

The Klong Seng (in Thai กลอง เส็ง ) is a musical instrument belonging to the group of membranophones from the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

The drum can be played on both sides, the sound body consists of a hollowed-out tree trunk. The two drum surfaces are covered with cowhides, which are held between the two surfaces with the help of strips of skin. The drumsticks are made from the wood of the tamarind and are coated with lead on the head .

The Klongseng is played either solo or in an ensemble, for example for a dance or a rocket festival.
