Agios Georgios Selinari Monastery
The monastery of Agios Georgios Selinari ( Greek Άγιος Γεώργιος Σελιναρι Ágios Geó̱rgios Selinári ) is a monastery in the northeast of the Greek island of Crete .
The monastery, re-established in 1961, is located about 7 kilometers east of the city of Malia between Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos . In the area of the monastery there is a monastery church, a small chapel, which was probably built in the 16th century, as well as a bell tower and a spring. The monastery was named after St. George . The monastery also operates a retirement home . Every year on April 23, the name day of the patron saint, a public festival is celebrated in the monastery.
