The monastery

The main church of the Ephraim monastery

The monastery is subordinate to the Diocese of Kitros-Katerini , belonging to the Archdiocese of Athens of the Church of Greece .

The facility extends over around 21 hectares and is surrounded by a wall. Outside the actual monastery there is an ornamental garden, a church where weddings and christenings take place, and an olive grove. The center of the complex is a square planted with a plane tree, which is bordered by an ornamental garden in the west and the church of Agia Irini and the administration building. The main church, the Katholikon , is to the east of it. The buildings on the south side serve to entertain the guests; one of the two exhibitions is also housed here, in which the nuns' handicrafts are sold. The sisters' house in the north is the largest building in the monastery. To the east of the Katholikons there is another ornamental garden and the second exhibition, in which the nuns' products are offered. In the north of the garden is an aviary where peacocks, pigeons and chickens are kept.

The church of Agia Irini was built as the first building, the (so far) last building contains the cells of the nuns and a private church.
