Mariaburg Monastery (Näfels)
The Kloster Maria Burg is a former Capuchin monastery and since 1986 a Franciscan monastery in Näfels in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland .
The monastery stands on mighty retaining and ring walls in the old part of the village on the “Burgstock”, where there used to be a castle. A high altar painting by Johann Michael Hunger hangs in the monastery church . In 1986 the Franciscans acquired the monastery from the Capuchins.
