Mikkabi Monastery
Mikkabi Monastery ( Japanese 海 の 星 修道院 , Umi no Hoshi Shūdōin , German "Sea Star Monastery") has been a Japanese monastery of the Saint Bernard Sisters of Esquermes since 1954 , which is now in Itō .
history
Three European Saint Bernard sisters from the mother house of La Cessoie Monastery founded the Maria Meerstern ( Our Lady Star of the Sea / Stella Maris / Umi-no-hoshi Shudoin ) monastery in Hamamatsu , Japan, with a school and kindergarten in 1954 . In 1998 the monastery was relocated to Mikkabi (incorporated in 2005 to Hamamatsu) on the northern tip of Lake Hamana . In July 2014 the relocation to Itō took place.
