Windsheim Monastery
Windsheim Monastery is a former Augustinian hermit monastery in Bad Windsheim in Bavaria in the diocese of Bamberg .
history
The monastery, consecrated to St. Augustine, was founded in 1291 by the knightly Gailing family (Albrecht der Gailing), who lived near Illesheim . In 1525 the Augustinians handed over the monastery with all its possessions to the city council of Windsheim. In 1592 the dilapidated church was demolished. In 1713 the city had the monastery buildings removed.
