The monastery mill Rösrath is a listed half-timbered house in Rösrath from the middle of the 18th century.

Building description

Two-wing half-timbered building, two-storey with a half-hipped roof, 4: 2 window axes, lattice windows with shutters.

Monument protection

The monastery mill in Rösrath was added to the list of listed buildings in the city of Rösrath as monument number 19 .

history

The monastery mill has been documented since the 17th century. It once belonged to the Eulenbroich house , which dates back to the 13th century. Presumably in the 18th century it was transferred to the Augustinian monastery in Rösrath. As the Tranchot map of Rösrath from around 1820 shows, the mill was supplied with process water through a long upper ditch branching off from the Sülz north of the manor house. The water was fed back into the Sülz via an also elongated underground ditch.

The flour mill was probably shut down in the 19th century.

The mill building, commonly referred to as the Klostermühle, was moved from the address Alte Mühle 9 to its current location at Zum Eulenbroicher Auel 15 , between Kastanienallee and Mühlenbach, in the mid-1970s due to a planned, but not yet realized, road construction project.

Todays use

The Klostermühle Rösrath has housed a gourmet restaurant with a focus on Belgian-French cuisine for more than 25 years.
