Crumple patent leather

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crumple patent leather , or just crumple varnish for short , is nappa leather with a special surface treatment that is based on synthetic leather .

Manufacturing

The leather is varnished or covered with synthetic and then peeled , i.e. with two rollers, pulled along a sharp edge ( pebble sheet ) with high tension in order to emphasize the grain and grain of the leather. The leather loses its natural stiffness and can be worn more comfortably and casually ("crumple look"). Crumple paint came into vogue in the late 1960s and was very fashionable mainly in the 1970s.
