Kneeling

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kneeling (from English kneeling , to kneel) describes the lowering of a road vehicle, especially a bus on the boarding side, in order to make it easier for passengers to board . To do this, air bags on the entry side are vented until the vehicle level reaches a set minimum, which is just above the mechanical stop. When the doors are closed, the vehicle is automatically raised to its normal level by inflating the air bellows. In connection with so-called high curbs at the bus stops, entry at ground level is made possible, which is particularly beneficial for wheelchair users , parents with strollers, as well as the mobility impaired, the mobility impaired and the elderly.
