Bone mill

The bone mill is a former for the production of bone meal used watermill in Meinerzhagener district Mühlhofe. The building dates from 1837 or 1849. The mill was built by Gottfried Stamm, who bought bones from the surrounding slaughterhouses and butchers in order to process them into bone meal, which could then be sold as fertilizer. The mill therefore has a wooden stamping mechanism driven by a mill wheel. The mill was fed by the nearby Ihne , which was branched off and dammed into a mill stream. It was forbidden to produce animal meal since 1939, which is why the mill was given up five years later. In March 1986 the building was added to the list of architectural monuments in Meinerzhagen . It was then extensively renovated.
