Koblenz Sparkassen Marathon

The Koblenz Sparkassen Marathon is a city run through Koblenz that takes place every year at the beginning of September . It is the successor to the Middle Rhine Marathon and is organized by the Koblenz Marathon eV association with the support of the Sports and Swimming Office of the City of Koblenz under the patronage of Mayor David Langner . In addition to the marathon, a. a half marathon, a 10 km run and a team marathon are also offered.

history

In October 2015, the organizer of the Middle Rhine Marathon announced on its homepage that the event would no longer be held in its previous form in the future. As part of a realignment, the first Koblenz Marathon was held in 2017 with a new concept.

The next Koblenz Sparkassen Marathon will take place on September 13, 2020.

route

The start and finish of all runs are in the Oberwerth stadium . The route measured according to the guidelines of the German Athletics Association (DLV) consists of two identical laps. It leads through the Koblenz districts of Oberwerth, Südliche Vorstadt, Altstadt, Rauental, Moselweiß, Metternich and Lützel. The runners pass numerous sights, including a. the Electoral Palace , the cable car , the " Deutsche Eck " and the Balduin Bridge .
