The Kocatepe Mosque ( Turkish Kocatepe Camii ) is the largest mosque in the Turkish capital, Ankara . It is located in the Kocatepe district, south of the old town.

Construction of the mosque began in 1967 based on plans for a modern mosque by the architect Vedat Dalokay , which were later abandoned in favor of a mosque in the classical style based on designs by Hüsrev Tayla . It was completed in 1987. With four minarets and a large dome, it is modeled on the classic Ottoman mosques. In the basement of the mosque there is a modern department store whose rental income is used to finance the mosque.
