The US-based Kofax, Inc is a provider of process management, robotic process automation, e-signature, mobility and customer communication services, as well as text recognition and document management software.

Company history

The company was founded in 1985 by Dean Hough and David Silver with the goal of creating software that enables customers to collect, manage, and access shared digital information through capture software.

Kofax was acquired by Lexmark in 2015 for approximately $ 1 billion . Lexmark, the company sold in 2017 to private equity -Gesellschaft Thoma Bravo on.

In early 2019, Kofax took over the Nuance Document Imaging division from Nuance Communications , moving the programs PaperPort (document management), Power PDF, OmniPage (text recognition), eCopy (document capture and processing), Equitrac (print management) and SafeCom (also print management) to Kofax .
