Kohler (family)

The Kohler family is mostly referred to in connection with the Kohler and Sheboygan , Wisconsin- based companies Kohler Company and Vollrath Company .

The family produced a Mayor of Sheboygan, two governors of the US state of Wisconsin, and many business leaders.

Johann Michael Kohler, born in 1805 in Schnepfau ( Vorarlberg ), in the rear of the Bregenzerwald, who emigrated to St. Paul in the United States, is considered to be the progenitor of the family . His son John Michael Kohler, who was also born in Schnepfau in 1844, founded the Kohler industrial empire, which was important for Wisconsin.
