The Kohlrausch fold (Latin: Plica transversa recti media ) is a crescent-shaped transverse fold approx. 5–8 cm above the anus and serves as a "chair brake" to relieve the sphincter muscle of the rectum . It is named after the German doctor Otto L. Kohlrausch from Hanover.
