Colligation

Colligation (Latin colligatio ; "connection") is a term used in linguistics . A colligation occurs when a homonym is immediately repeated in a text and used in more than one aspect of its meaning.

Examples

  • The heckling stopped and the parliamentarians listened ( Zeugma and Kolligation).
  • In the second volume he speaks of love as a unifying bond .
  • Then he burst through the ceiling and into the words:
  • It's the train's turn.
  • First he hit the window and then headed home.
  • The judge judged after the attorney addressed the witness.
