Colligation
Colligation (Latin colligatio ; "connection") is a term used in linguistics . A colligation occurs when a homonym is immediately repeated in a text and used in more than one aspect of its meaning.
Examples
- The heckling stopped and the parliamentarians listened ( Zeugma and Kolligation).
- In the second volume he speaks of love as a unifying bond .
- Then he burst through the ceiling and into the words:
- It's the train's turn.
- First he hit the window and then headed home.
- The judge judged after the attorney addressed the witness.
