Colloquialism

In linguistics, colloquialism is a colloquial term. Thus, in literary analysis, a term is called colloquialism that is used in a written text, although it is actually only used in oral communication. Colloquialisms are especially common in dramatic and essayistic texts.

Examples

Colloquialisms in written texts are for example strong expressions or words like “geil”, “deluxe” or “pfundig”, crudisms like “ey” or “boah” or dialect terms like “ schnieke ”, “töfte” or “paffen”.
