Columban
Columban (also Columban ) is the name of the following saints who lived as Irish wandering monks in the 6th century:
- Columban of Iona (521–597; also called Kolumba, Columba or Columban the Elder), missionary from Scotland
- Columban of Luxeuil (540–615; also Columban of Bobbio or Columban the Younger called), missionary of the Franks and messenger of faith in Alemannia
Columban is also the religious name of the following Benedictine monks :
- Columban Gigl (1686–1752), German Benedictine and abbot of the Metten Monastery
- Columban Luser (* 1955), 65th Abbot of the Göttweig Monastery
- Columban Reble (1664-1738) was a Benedictine monk of the St. Blasien monastery in the Black Forest
