Center operational test

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Operational Testing Center is a naval service unit at battalion level that is responsible for operational testing of material and for fleet exercises. It is based in Eckernförde .

history

The operational test center was set up on September 1, 1968 as Kommando Truppenversuche (Kommando Truppenversuche / KdoTrVsuM). It was created by combining the ship takeover command and several naval experimental sites. It was initially subordinate to the Admiral Marinewaffen in the Naval Office and from 1973 to the Head of the Naval Office directly. In 1992 it was assigned to the naval support command. After its dissolution in September 2001, it returned to the command area of the Naval Office, where it was subordinated to the Admiral Naval Armaments and Logistics.

On October 1, 2012, it was incorporated into Department II of the newly established naval support command based in Wilhelmshaven , with the technical systems remaining at their location. On April 1, 2018, it became an independent agency again, subordinate to the naval support command.

tasks

The main task is the military check of equipment and weapon systems for their troop usability. This happens above all in the context of the introduction of new weapon systems. Among other things, the command is responsible for the technical takeover of ships and boats.

It also participated in the further development of procedures, doctrines, regulations and weapon systems. It supports the fleet in checking the operational readiness of ships and boats and evaluates all weapons exercises centrally for the entire Navy. To do this, it uses extensive measuring equipment with the help of which the technical and tactical success of a weapon deployment can be determined. These facilities for operational surveying, which were initially under the command itself, were handed over to the Defense Technology Service 71 , also located in Eckernförde, in 1993 , but are still available to the command.
