Commission for occupational safety and standardization

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Occupational Safety and Health and Standardization Commission (KAN) has the task of accompanying standardization work from the point of view of occupational safety and ensuring that its interests flow into the standardization.

The social partners , the state , the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) and the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) are represented in KAN . KAN "bundles" the opinions of the various occupational safety groups - based on a broad consensus of all those involved - and brings this position through DIN as statements in ongoing and planned standardization projects or on existing standards. KAN also represents the German occupational health and safety opinion in discussions on standardization policy. It is not a standardization body itself.

KAN has existed since 1994 and is run by the Association for the Promotion of Work Safety in Europe. V. (VFA) and funded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS). Members of the VFA are professional associations and public accident insurance institutions .

Projects of the KAN

  • In a joint project with DIN Software GmbH, KAN has developed the NoRA research tool for the targeted search for standards with content relevant to occupational safety.
  • In cooperation with the TU Dresden, the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau and the DGUV, KAN has had ergonomics teaching modules developed. The focus of the materials is on the ergonomics of machines and systems. Much of the content can also be transferred to other fields.
