Communist League of Great Britain

The Communist League of Great Britain ( Communist League of Great Britain ) is an "anti- revisionist " group in the UK .

Its origins lie in the Communist Party of Great Britain , in which a Maoist- anti-Soviet faction was formed. In 1963, expelled CP members founded the Maoist "Committee to Suppress Revisionism, for Communist Unity", which in its heyday between February 1964 and February 1965 had party organizations in important British cities, held public meetings and produced Marxist literature (including the works of the Communist Party of China and the Party of Labor of Albania ). This committee was headed by Mike McCreery.

After his death, the committee quickly broke up. In view of this, the majority of the “Committee” members formed anew and in September 1965 formed the “Action Alliance for Marxist-Leninist Unity”. This “action alliance” published the organ “Hammer or Anvil” from November of the same year, on which the (then) KP member Bill Bland already worked. In 1967 this organization was renamed the "Marxist-Leninist Organization of Britain" (MLOB), with Bill Bland as its chairman (until 1974).

A short time later, the MLOB stopped supporting China and supported Albania's head of state Enver Hoxha , although he was still allied with Beijing at the time: “... in January 1968, the 'Marxist-Leninist Organization of Britain' (MLOB) published a report on the situation of the People's Republic of China. The main features of this report consisted in characterizing the 'Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution' as counter-revolutionary and the 'Mao-Tsetung ideas' as reactionary and revisionist. "

In 1975 the Communist League of Great Britain was founded as the successor organization to the MLOB. The leading figure in this group was also Bland. Their ideological position was reinforced by the Sino-Albanian break in 1978. Until 1990 she showed solidarity with the People's Socialist Republic of Albania .

The British Communist League is still active to this day, but lost some of its importance after Bland's death (2001). As an “anti-revisionist” group, it represents Stalinist and “Hoxhaist” positions and also participates in British Stalin society.
