Compensatory anti-inflammatory response syndrome
As a compensatory anti-inflammatory response syndrome ( Compensatory anti-inflammatory response syndrome , CARS) is the response of the immune system called the systemic inflammatory response ( systemic inflammatory response syndrome, SIRS follows).
The CARS shows up as a complex pattern of immunological reactions. Anti-inflammatory mediators such as interleukin - (IL) -10, IL-4, IL-13 or TGF -beta are released.
The goal of these responses is to restore homeostasis after SIRS by downregulating the immune system. The timing and extent of CARS may be directly related to the clinical impact of SIRS.
The concept was formulated in 1997 by Roger Bone .
