The Competence Center Quality Assurance and Quality Management (KCQ) advises the medical services of the health insurance funds (MDK) , the GKV-Spitzenverband as well as health insurance companies and their associations on system-related quality-related issues. The KCQ is an institution of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds and the MDK Association, located at the MDK Baden-Württemberg with locations in Stuttgart, Tübingen and Ravensburg. It was founded in 1999.

Fields of activity

Examples of tasks:

  • Advising the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds in bodies of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) and the statutory health insurance (GKV) at state level
  • Support of the MDK community and the medical service of the National Association of Health Insurance Funds (MDS) in assessing quality assurance and special expert reports
  • Advice to clients in committee work
  • Preparation of fundamental reports on quality-related issues
  • Evidence reviews as part of innovation assessments
  • Scientific evaluation of supply procedures in diagnostics and therapy
  • Conceptual advice, support and evaluation of model projects and new forms of care with regard to quality assurance
  • Evaluation of guidelines as well as the resulting deducibility of quality indicators
  • Creation of concepts for the quality assessment of medical and nursing care
  • Scientific publications
  • Technical management and moderation of conferences and workshops

Competencies

The medical staff are specialists from various disciplines with clinical experience (unrepresented areas of expertise are available cooperatively in the MDK community). They should have additional qualifications in the field of quality management, care management, public health and social medicine , as well as theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience in methodological and content-related questions relating to procedures of external and internal quality assurance in the health care system.

The KCQ carries out systematic literature research and evaluations of scientific publications.
