Conference of Geodesy Students

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Conference of Geodesy students , short KonGeoS , is the association of Geodesy - student councils in Germany. As federal student council meeting it represents the interests of geodesy students at universities and colleges in relation to politics, economy and higher education and continues the study conditions for improving one.

The KonGeoS was created in November 2012 through the merger of the former Working Group of Geodesy Students (ARGEOS, since 1970) and the Conference of Surveying Students (KonVers, since 1997).

The KonGeoS general assembly meets once a semester and is always organized by a different student body. At these meetings, current supraregional issues are discussed in working groups and joint statements are drawn up. In addition, the conference offers the participants specialist excursions, specialist lectures and the opportunity for professional and personal exchange. Between the conferences, the board implements the decisions of the general assembly, represents KonGeoS to professional associations, politics and the public and maintains contact between the student councils.

KonGeoS sends a representative as a guest to working group 1 “Profession” of the DVW - Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management eV and is regularly represented at the INTERGEO trade fair in order to promote contacts with future employers of the graduates. Companies also have the opportunity to support KonGeoS directly via the affiliated development association (FV KonGeoS eV).
