The International Geodetic Student Organization (IGSO) is a politically neutral, independent and not-for-profit association of students of geodesy and young geodesists.
aims
The goals of the IGSO are:
- to bring together the associations and organizations of geodesy students from all countries to exchange views
- Represent geodesy students to the public
- Build connections between the individual member associations
- To disseminate information about the current social conditions among the geodesy students in the different countries in order to achieve improvements
- to strengthen the good relationships with the respective universities and partner organizations as well as the cultural exchange between different countries
These goals are organized and implemented through the International Geodetic Students Meeting (IGSM) and the General Assembly taking place during this meeting.
structure
The members of the IGSO are geodesy student councils and student associations of the respective universities and colleges.
The IGSO consists of three organs:
- of the General Assembly
- the Board of Directors (International Geodetic Students Agency: the General Secretary, the Treasurer, and the Actuary)
- the auditors of account.
The structure of the IGSO and the implementation of the IGSM 2004 were presented at the ISPRS conference 2006.
Meetings and activities
Every year the IGSO organizes an International Geodetic Students Meeting (IGSM). These meetings offer students the opportunity to exchange experiences with one another. Since the meetings take place in a different country every year, they also offer the opportunity to get to know new cultures and customs.
history
The first IGSM was organized in the Netherlands by the geodesy students at the TU Delft . The IGSO was then founded during the fourth IGSM in Graz , Austria .
Past and future meetings:
Partner organizations
The IGSO is a partner organization of the global umbrella organization of surveying engineers, Fédération Internationale des Géomètres (FIG) .
The Conference of Geodesy Students (KonGeoS) of the German-speaking universities represents geodesy students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
