The Congregation of the Family of Merciful Love (Familia del Amor Misericordioso) is a Roman Catholic institute for the consecrated life of priests and lay people . The motto is everything for love .

The community was founded by the Spanish nun Esperanza de Jesús Alhama Valera ("Mother Esperanza") and is divided into two congregations:

  • Congregation of the Servants of Merciful Love (Latin Congregatio Esclavas del Amor Misericordioso; abbreviation EAM)
Founded on December 24, 1930 in Madrid
  • Congregation of the Sons of Merciful Love (lat.Congregatio Filiorum Amoris Misericordis; abbreviation FAM)
Founded on August 15, 1951 in Rome; recognized by Pope John Paul II on June 12, 1983.
The community has 107 priests and 143 brothers (2014).

The two congregations are divided into six branches, but belong to one religious family:

  • Religious Servants of Merciful Love
  • Servants of Merciful Love in worldly activities
  • Religious priests Sons of Merciful Love
  • Diocesan Priest Sons of Merciful Love
  • Brothers who publicly testify of their consecration as Sons of Merciful Love
  • Brothers Sons of Merciful Love, called to engage in worldly activities

The focus of adoration is the cross of merciful love and the mediator of Mary . The patron saints of the Merciful Love family are St. Joseph Benedikt Cottolengo, St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, St. John of God and St. Joseph.

In 1961, the Shrine of the Merciful Love with a basilica in Collevalenza in Umbria was created as the headquarters .

On July 5, 2013, was the beatification of Mother Esperanza held by Pope Francis.
