Catholic branch church St. Urban in Riedlingsdorf

The Roman Catholic branch church Riedlingsdorf is located in the municipality of Riedlingsdorf in the Oberwart district in Burgenland . The branch church of the Catholic parish church Pinkafeld , consecrated to Saint Urban , belongs to the Pinkafeld dean's office in the Eisenstadt diocese . The building is a listed building .

history

The church was first mentioned in 1697. It was very likely a simple medieval stone building with a vaulted choir and a wooden-roofed nave . In 1759 the church was rebuilt by local farmers. Today's church was built in 1811 with funds from the church and donations from generous gentlemen. This newly built church offers space for 200 people. The cemetery is around the church. Features are the brick tower and the original bell , which was taken over from the old church.

In 1831 there were renovations outside and inside, as well as the coloring of the church by the skilled Italian bricklayer Augustin Riva. The altar and windows were renovated in 1846 and an organ was purchased. In 1963 the church was connected to the public electricity network. The first major renovation took place under Pastor Martin Sack in 1981. The church was repainted inside and outside, the bells were electrified, heating was installed and the pews were replaced. The most extensive renovation to date took place from June 1993 to May 1994 due to the increasing dampness in the masonry. The interior and exterior plaster and paint were renewed, stone slabs were laid and a new entrance staircase was created.

The 200th anniversary of the consecration of the branch church was celebrated on September 27, 2015 as part of a service under the direction of the Vicar General of the Diocese of Eisenstadt. On this occasion, a personalized stamp (PM-No .: 8115824), on which the entrance area and the altarpiece are shown, was issued in an edition of 500 and a documentation about the history of the church was presented.
